By being honest about their struggles, these young men… show others what it takes to change.

Our approach helps caring adults engage teens in social & emotional learning through literacy.
Our stories, developed in a rigorous writing program, are uniquely compelling to youth whose voices are missing from mainstream content. The stories model social and emotional learning, and show teens how to make positive changes in their lives. They also motivate teens to read and write.
The boys really liked the story ‘Color Me Different’ about identity. They were able to make lots of connections with the material and think about how different people expect certain things of them because of their race or ethnicity. The discussion about the story lasted so long they didn’t have enough time to get to the follow-up activity!
