SEL Lesson: Build Community During a Pandemic

0

Welcome your students
by recognizing their strengths

The beginning of this school year may come with a lot of tension and uncertainty, especially during such fraught times. That being said, we’ll need to do even more work to build community in our classrooms, virtual or not.

How can we help students reflect on what they’ve been through and, in doing so, get them to reflect on their resiliency and strengths?

One way is to use a story-based session that focuses on a young woman who, through surviving two natural disasters, discovers that she’s stronger than she thinks.

Taking this time to welcome back students in a thoughtful, strengths-based way is sure to get your classroom started off on the right foot, even during a pandemic.
