#trending: Professional Development Session
December 14 @ 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM
#trending is a middle school resource that is fun and engaging for youth, easy-to-use for staff, and supports literacy and SEL skills. Since launching it last year, nearly 50 community-based organizations throughout the city have started using #trending in their afterschool programming. The response is extremely positive. Staff members say it prompts great discussions. Young people who participate want to read and write. And 98% of the staff who took the half-day training said that it strengthened their youth development skills.
One reason that #trending is so effective is that it is based on 36 true stories by New York City teenagers—all created in our in-house, rigorous teen writing program. The teens in your program will recognize themselves in our writers and immediately trust them—and open up to each other and your staff about their challenges.
Topics include: friendship, identity, managing difficult emotions
To register for this training, please visit our online store to purchase “Package A” or “Package B,” or contact Elena Autin-Hefner at email@example.com for more information.
