The Struggle to Be Strong: Professional Development Session

December 5 @ 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Help teens recognize and name their strengths, and discover they’re not alone in facing life’s most difficult challenges. Youth will learn about seven resiliencies — insight, independence, relationships, initiative, creativity, humor, and morality — that everyone needs to survive and thrive in even the toughest times.

Participants in this workshop will be have an opportunity to practice active listening, facilitating group read-alouds, and communication techniques for creating a safe space for teens.

The Story-Based Approach uses true stories by teens as a gateway to important discussions with youth. As teens read, they discover they’re not alone in facing life’s difficulties.

Topics include: asking tough questions, taking charge, overcoming adversity

Our Story-Based Approach package includes:

  • Professional Development, ideal for educators, counselors, and youth service professionals
  • Curriculum Guide with structured and scripted lessons
  • Anthologies of relevant, award-winning true stories by teens
