Real Men 2.0: Professional Development Workshop
March 9 @ 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Real Men 2.0 activates teens’ desire to discover themselves and think critically about the choices they make—from everyday behaviors, like whether to engage in catcalling, to life-changing moments, like whether to forgive an absent father.
Using our Story-Based Approach, Real Men 2.0 is centered on true stories written by teens to inspire their peers to think deeply about what it means to “be a man.” Youth will recognize themselves in these authors, who struggle to figure out who they are and demonstrate how they have made positive changes in their lives.
The group activities and discussions build on the social and emotional learning (SEL) skills that are embedded in the true stories. The lessons promote a strong sense of self-awareness and agency among young men to help them strengthen relationships, peacefully resolve conflicts, and think about life goals.
The professional development workshop helps group leaders implement Real Men 2.0, and create safe and supportive spaces to help boys, and boy-identified youth tap into their strengths to develop positive identities.
Youth Communication supports program implementation of Real Men 2.0 with:
• Professional Development (one-day training)
• Coaching Sessions (two or more)
• Curriculum Guides (one for each staff member that attends training)
• Anthologies of true stories written by teens (12 per trained staff member)
