from the 12th Annual
Awards for Youth In Foster Care
Twenty young people were honored at the Twelfth Annual Awards for Youth in Foster Care at The College Board on June 3, 2010.
The winners received prizes of $500 to $1000 in scholarship money in an essay contest to recognize New York City youth in foster care and the adults who work with them.
In their essays, winners describe how they have overcome tremendous adversity, often with the help of a caring adult. They also wrote about how they have made a positive impact on themselves, another person or the system.
The essay contest was sponsored by The Sunny and Abe Rosenberg Foundation, The Tin Man Fund, The College Board and Youth Communication, publisher of Represent: The Voice of Youth in Care.
